Our Mission
Consolidating Ukrainian Society Through Remembrance of the Past
We are transforming the Museum into a leading institution for the study of the Holodomor genocide, one that responds to society’s current needs. Our main priorities are the promotion of human rights, preventing the recurrence of crimes against humanity, and combating Russian-style ideology through the use of facts.

Documenting and Researching Traumatic Experience
The Museum aims to create a research platform for discussing the historical events of the Holodomor genocide in the context of contemporary social experience. It is building an archive of memory through oral history and historical studies, while developing its own collections.

Disseminating Accurate, Research-Based Information
Through a permanent multimedia exhibition, temporary exhibitions, educational programmes, and the development of accessible research-based content, the Museum shares knowledge through multiple communication channels in Ukraine and internationally.

Preserving the Memory of the Holodomor Genocide
By developing a symbolic memorial space around the Hall of Memory, creating meaningful commemorative practices, engaging with local communities across Ukraine, and initiating international partnerships.
As long as Ukraine maintains its national unity, as long as its people continue to think of themselves as Ukrainians and strive for independence, it poses a serious threat to the very essence of Sovietism.
The basics of the museum’s activities
The National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide is a state-run research, cultural, educational and methodological institution operating under the authority of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. The foundations of our day-to-day work are:
