Where: Small Gallery Mystetskyi Arsenal (Kyiv, Lavrska Str.10)

For the first time in 25 years Ukraine has been experiencing the process of the active museum building. With the support at the high state level the process of designing and building of the museum complexes of the National Museum “Holodomor Victims’ Memorial”, the Museum of the Revolution of Dignity, the National Historical Memorial Preserve “Babyn Yar”, the Holocaust Memorial Center “Babyn Yar”, etc., was started. And the first problem, which is becoming more and more obvious, is the lack of modern architects and designers in Ukraine who are specialized in museum projects.

That is why today it is very important for us to get acquainted with world trends of the museum building, to analyze the experience of leading foreign architects and designers who create modern public and, in particular, museum spaces.

In particular, Poland is one of the leaders in designing and constructing museums. The newly created Polish museums receive prestigious European awards (the Museum of the History of Polish Jews “POLIN”, the Warsaw Rising Museum, the Silesian Museum, the Museum of Torun Gingerbread, etc.).

About the components of such a success will tell the famous Polish architect Mirosław Nizio. In particular, he will tell about his experience of creating museum spaces, and will also discuss the issue of what should be the museum of the 21st century. Architects, designers, museum workers and anyone who wants to visit modern museums with up-to-date exhibits and comfortable infrastructure in Ukraine are invited to participate.

Mirosław Nizio is one of the most famous contemporary architects of the public space in Poland. After completing his studies at the Faculty of Architecture and Interior Design at the Academy of Arts in Warsaw and at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York by specialty of interior design, he founded his own design company in 1989, which is well known for participating in the project to create the exposition of the Warsaw Rising Museum in Warsaw, was responsible for the development and implementation of the concept of the exposition of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews “POLIN”, and joined to the creation of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Wroclaw.
