The Holodomor Museum Has Took Part in the Historic Preservation Project
On August 21, 2018, Vinnytsia hosted the presentation of the online portal “Archive of Stories of Ukrainians” (memory.org.ua). A group of activists from all over Ukraine have united for the creation of a project that will show the history of Ukraine in the XX–XXI centuries through the personal stories. One of the sections of the resource is “The Holodomor of 1932–1933”.
“In Ukraine, because of the repressions, executions, deportations and prisons, the collective memory of our people was almost destroyed. Our ancestors were afraid to publicly tell who they were, how they lived, what they thought, and how they treated the authorities. They were silent about the executed, lost, separated by wars, and exterminated by propaganda. Some day someone can come and took the person away… They stories were told only to the loved ones in a close family circle. And when they died, the stories of whole families died with them,” the project creators said.
