The collection of documents and materials “Blackboards” of Ukraine. Chernihiv Region. ” is one of the work results of the Holodomor Research Institute.
Historical study of the Holodomor-genocide is a fundamental direction in the work of the Institute, covering the whole range of scientific activities-from the archival search of historical sources, their attribution, analysis, and systematization to the publication of study results in monographs, scientific articles, conference abstracts, and the introduction into scientific circulation of discovered archival documents in the form of collections of documents and materials, etc.
One of the worst crimes against humanity in the last century was the crime of genocide of the Ukrainian nation committed by the communist totalitarian regime in 1932-1933. Among the many means used to destroy Ukrainian farmers was repression, such as “blacklisting.” In 1932, the “black boards” transformed into a brutal repressive element of the Holodomor mechanism. Along with other factors, the “black boards” ensured the implementation of the communist totalitarian regime’s plan to destroy all manifestations of the national movement and subdue those Ukrainians who survived, including in modern Chernihiv and northern Sumy regions.
