Lesya Hasydzhak participated in the forum “Genocidal Practices of the Russian Federation in Ukraine”

On November 22, 2024, the Director General of the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide, Lesia Hasydzhak, participated in the forum “Genocidal Practices of the Russian Federation in Ukraine: from the Holodomor to the Russian-Ukrainian War,” within the framework of the Expert Platform “NATIONAL SECURITY 2024++”, organised by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The panel “Physical and Cultural Aspects of the Genocide of the Ukrainian People,” moderated by Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Head of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation Nataliia Kryvda, also included Andriy Yusov (spokesperson of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine), Yevheniia Kravchuk (People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the 9th convocation, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Humanitarian and Information Policy), Yevhen Hlibovytskyi (director of the Frontier Institute, Ukrainian intellectual, researcher of social transformations, expert on long-term strategies), Volodymyr Buhrov (rector of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv) and Advisor to the Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.

During the discussion, the participants talked about the issues of the continuity of genocide, the differences between genocide and mass man-made famines, the concept of the Holodomor as genocide, cultural genocide as a tool for erasing Ukrainian cultural identity and destroying the Ukrainian nation, the prospects for its recognition at the international level, the experience of recognizing the Holodomor, etc.
