Platform of European Memory and Conscience elected a new President
On November 28-30, 2017, annual Council of Members the Platform of European Memory and Conscience took place in Vilnius, Lithuania. Olesia Stasiuk, Director General of the Holodomor Memorial Museum, participated in its work, as since 2015 the museum has been an associate member of this organization.
Within the framework of meeting, the election of the new President of the Platform was held. According to the results of voting, Dr. Łukasz Kamiński, Polish historian and President of the Institute of National Remembrance in the years 2011-2016 was chosen.
New Members of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience admitted in 2017 are the Association of Former Soldiers of the Auxilliary Technical Batallions – Military Forced Labour Camps with Seat in Prague (CZ), the Institute for the Integration of Persecuted People in Albania (ALB), the Former Deportees from Baragan Association (RO) and the Collège des Bernardins (FR). The Platform now has 57 Member institutions and organisations in 20 countries of Europe and North America.
The annual Council of Members of the Platform was hosted by the Genocide and Resistance Research Center of Lithuania. The agenda included a one-day seminar with the title “The Genocide of European Roma 1939-1945“, an excursion to the Museum of Genocide Victims , which is situated in the former KGB building, and a visit to the Paneriai memorial.
