The museum received books with records of witnesses of the current genocide of Ukrainians
“When you sit in the basement, and there are perished people nearby who were buried behind the wall, the state is very depressed. One of the men jumped from the top floor. They had an argument about food. People were losing resources. We were dying alive. My dad and his neighbours were looking for water. As there was snow and puddles, we saved ourselves…,” Maria Vdovychenko (18 years old), whose memories included in the book “. Book 2″ recalls.
In 2022, the author and head of the “Alive Stories of The War” project, Olha Feshchenko, began collecting testimonies from people who survived the occupation in 2022 in her hometown, Borodianka. The result of the volunteers’ work was the publication “Alive Stories of The War”, which included 35 stories of Borodianka residents.

Ms Olha managed to gather caring people around the project of collecting testimonies from other settlements of the Kyiv region, which were affected by the Russian occupation in 2022. Thus, the team continued work on new editions.
The book, transferred to the museum “Alive Stories of The War. Book 2,” contains 48 stories of residents from the Kyiv, Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The book “Memory of the soul. Ivankivshchyna” includes 34 stories of residents of the Ivankivshchyna community of Kyiv region.
In total, the team led by Olha Feshchenko published four books: “Alive Stories of The War”, “Lace of War”, “Alive Stories of The War. Book 2”, “Memory of the soul. Ivankivshchyna”. These materials are a crucial source for reproducing the events of the Russian occupation and genocide.
We are grateful to the project team for their records and preservation.
