A film about a great Ukrainian who spike the truth about the Holodomor

On March 13, a documentary “Olherd Bochkovskyi. An irretrievable spark of a burning fireof national consciousness” was shown in the Hall of Memory of the National Museum “Holodomor Victims Memorial.”

The documentary film, created by the Espero TV channel, shows the life of a prominent sociologist, political scientist and activist of the Ukrainian diaspora in Europe of 1920-30s years. Bochkovskyi was the “advocate” of the Ukrainian question in the world, opposed to the Soviet propaganda. In 1932-1933 he was the head of the Ukraine Famine Assistance Committee.

The scriptwriter and director of the film Hryhorii Rudenko and the performer of the role of Olherd Bochkovskyi Artem Vilbik visited the presentation.

“The purpose of the film is to popularize the figure of one of the most prominent Ukrainians, about which, unfortunately, we know very little,” said Hryhorii Rudenko.

Artem Vilbik noted that it was an honor for him to play the role of prominent Ukrainian. “I am glad that I was able to contribute to the popularization of Olherd Bochkovskyi, one of the great Ukrainians, who by this time remains a very little-known person in Ukraine.”

The film was created by the NGO “Demforum” with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation in the framework of the publication and promotion of works and names of Ukrainian thinkers and scholars of the early 20th century.

Recall that the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine together with the Holodomor Victims Memorial prepared a series about the Holodomor witnesses.
