The President of Austria visited the Holodomor Victims Memorial

On March 14, 2018, the President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, visited the National Museum “Holodomor Victims Memorial”.

Together with his wife, Doris Schmidauer, he put flowers and a lantern to the sculpture “Bitter memory of the childhood” on the territory of the Memorial, visited the exposition of the Hall of Memory, lit a candle at the Altar in memory of the Holodomor victims, and had a talk with the General Director of the Museum, Olesya Stasiuk.

The President of Austria Alexander van der Bellen is in Ukraine with a three-day working visit. It is planned that he will also participate in the Ukrainian-Austrian business forum in Kiev, which is taking place these days.

We recall that this year, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had an official visit to the Republic of Austria, during which he addressed to the speaker of the National Council of the Republic of Austria with a request to recognize the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian nation.
