A mural for fictional heroes at a school in Mariupol

The Russian invaders created a mural with fictional heroes on the wall of one of the schools in the occupied Mariupol, Donetsk region. The mural depicts the non-existent pioneer hero Tolia Balabukh, who was a fiction of the Soviet communists, and the fictional hero of Russia, who allegedly “rescued civilians under fire.”

The adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andriushchenko, announced that on Telegram on September 15, 2022.

Interestingly, almost immediately after the ceremonial opening of the mural, the letter “Ї” appeared on it – a symbol of Ukrainian protest against the Russian occupiers.
