The museum donated literature about the Holodomor for distribution in Sweden
Today, the Holodomor Museum donated more than a hundred books and brochures in English to the non-governmental organization Nordic Ukraine Forum for free. These include, in particular, the publication of Raphael Lemkin’s article “Soviet Genocide in Ukraine” in thirty-three languages and the publication “We were killed because we are Ukrainians” translated into English.
The main goal of this organization is to promote the interests of Ukraine in Sweden. The Nordic Ukraine Forum also carries out educational work regarding the Holodomor in Sweden and lobbies for the country’s recognition of the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. Therefore, the organization applied to the Museum with requests to receive literature that would help aware the citizens of Sweden about the genocide of Ukrainians in 1932-1933.
Handing over the books, Mykhailo Kostiv, the head of the Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Research Department, thanked the vice-chair of the Nordic Ukraine Forum, Aliona Kashyna, for her crucial educational work and wished her success. Soon, the books will be delivered to Sweden, and the editions mentioned above, as well as the books for children about the Holodomor “Five ears of grain”, which the organization purchased from the museum at its own expense, will be distributed in future events dedicated to the events of the Holodomor.
As a reminder, this year Ukraine and the world will commemorate the 90th anniversary of the tragedy of the Ukrainian people. Today, about 30 countries have recognized the Holodomor as genocide.
We are sincerely grateful to everyone who did and continues to do crucial work spreading the truth about the Holodomor.
