At the age of 98, the Holodomor witness Zynovii Maslo passed away. He was born on June 8, 1922, in the village of Pivni, Fastiv district, Kyiv region, where he survived the Holodomor as a teenager. The family of Maslo survived thanks to their father who went to Russia. When the farmers got tired of the constant plunder and famine, they destroyed the collective farm. However, the head of the Maslo family was well aware that this was only a temporary victory. Slaughtered a cow he managed to take away from the collective farm, his father took some food and went away from his native village, and later took his family. As a result of the Holodomor, Zynovii lost his family members, friends and neighbors. Throughout his life, Zynovii Maslo has preserved the memory and pain of loved ones and friends. He repeatedly shared with us his memoirs… Mr. Maslo, together with his peers, compiled and transmitted to our museum a list of 157 victims of the Holodomor from his native Pivni village. These names are included in the People’s Memory Book of our museum.
