The Czech Senate recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people
The Upper Chamber of the Czech Parliament (Senate) of the Czech Republic recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
“I welcome the decision of the Senate of the Czech Republic to recognize the Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainians. I am grateful to my Czech friends for establishing the truth and restoring historical justice. Punishment for all past and present crimes of Russia is inevitable,” Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted.
In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, thanked the Czech senators for this step. “The Senate of the Czech Republic recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people. I am grateful to my Czech friends for honouring the millions of victims of this Soviet crime and restoring historical justice. Responsibility for all past and present Russian crimes is unavoidable,” he tweeted.
We will remind you that on April 6, 2022, the lower house of the Czech Parliament recognized the Holodomor in Ukraine in 1932-1933 as an act of genocide of the Ukrainian people. The deputies voted unanimously for this resolution.
