The profile committee of the Italian Parliament recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people

Italy has become one step closer to recognizing the Holodomor as an act of genocide: on February 21, 2023, the relevant committee of the parliament of this country recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.Now the Italian parliament has to make the corresponding decision.

The Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, informed the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky about this during a meeting in Kyiv, UNIAN reported.

“It is important for us to recognize the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people since this year will already be the 90th anniversary of this tragedy. Madam Prime Minister told me that the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Parliament had already voted for this crucial decision yesterday.”-President Zelensky announced at a joint briefing with Ms Meloni.

The head of state added that Ukraine expects the Italian parliament to support the relevant resolution soon.
