Kateryna Andreieva is a Russian journalist and TV host of the Vremya program on the First Channel, which she has hosted since 1998. She is Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s one of the most favourite TV presenters.
She stated that every employee of state television in the Russian Federation must support state policy.
She said the Russians could not ignore what was happening in Ukraine because it is “Russia’s closest neighbour.” She stated that the events on the border with Ukraine “may threaten the security of the Russian Federation”, so, they say, the aggressor country cannot ignore it.
Main statements
1. In the midst of the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine, she wrote on social networks about the alleged “historic changes that are currently taking place” (March 7, 2022)
At the same time, she noted that she did not seem to react to criticism and negativity aimed at her.
2. She stated that her TV channel supposedly “doesn’t lie and checks the facts” (March 17, 2022)
This is how Andreieva commented on the incident with the channel’s editor at that time, Maryna Ovsiannikova, who ran into the studio during the broadcast and stood behind the TV presenter with a “No war” poster and accusations of lies by the TV channel.
