An article on “Ria-novosti” calling for the destruction of Ukraine’s infrastructure
On October 11, 2022, the Russian propaganda publication “Ria-novosti” published an article openly calling for the destruction of the Ukrainian energy system and infrastructure, regardless of what the consequences may be for the civilian population. It is about the column of the Russian propagandist Petro Akopov entitled “A new stage of the dismantling of Ukraine has begun.”
In his material, Akopov calls the massive missile strikes that the Russian Federation carried out on Ukraine on October 10 “revenge for the explosion on the Crimean bridge.” At the same time, he notes that “this is only a warning,” they say, it could be worse. In the text, the author calls on the Russian authorities not to stop and continue to launch missile strikes on Ukraine until they completely destroy the Ukrainian civil infrastructure. He urges not to worry about the harm to the civilian population from this – as if this can be neglected if energy networks and bridges have to be destroyed for the sake of Russia’s victory in the war.
At the same time, Akopov, demonstrating the imperial machinations of Russia, calls the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine actually “civil”. After all, in his view, the it is supposedly “being waged by two states of the same people.” Such statements of the propagandist fall under several points of the definition of genocide of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
The author of the material calls on Russia to escalate the war against Ukraine. He declares that the Russian Federation will allegedly “bring the case to the end” in order “not to leave Ukraine to the West as a weapon against Russia.” At the same time, he notes that the alleged aggressor country of the Russian Federation will not allow “generations of Ukrainians and South Russian people to continue to be brought up in denial of their own Russianness and hatred of Russia.” After that, he also quoted the words of the deputy head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, about the alleged need to “dismantle the political regime” in Ukraine.
Further, in his column, Akopov calls the historical goal of the Russian Federation “the return of Ukraine” to the so-called “Russian world”. With this, he absolutely clearly outlines the aggressive attempts of Russia against Ukraine, which the aggressor country of the Russian Federation skillfully tries to hide under the “sauce” of invented goals of denazification and demilitarization.
