Finland recognises the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people
On the Remembrance Day of the Holodomor Victims, Speaker of the Finnish Parliament, Jussi Halla-aho, while on a visit to Kyiv, spoke in Ukrainian in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He stated that Finland actually recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
“Our Parliament, unlike many others, has never issued a declaration on historical events. We don’t even have a procedure for doing so. But last week, the heads of all nine parliamentary factions, together with the vast majority of MPs, signed a joint statement stating that there are grounds to consider the Holodomor a genocide of the Ukrainian people committed by the soviet authorities, and it should be called that – that is, genocide.May time heal the wounds, may life prevail.Glory to Ukraine!” – noted the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland.
