We invite you to the presentation of the memories of Lavro Nechyporenko “The 33rd year”

2 February 2024

On 8 February 2024, at 11:30 a.m., the Holodomor Museum (Kyiv, 3 Lavrska Str.) will host the presentation of the archeographic edition – memories, authored by Lavro Nechyporenko, a teacher from Boiarka, Kyiv region, and the Holodomor witness.

The unique manuscript, which has a detective story related to the activities of the KGB and the movement of the sixties, was transferred to the Holodomor Museum three years ago and has been on display in the Hall of Memory for several months. And now, anyone can read it because the museum published the memories in print as a historical source of personal origin. The content of memories is crucial for understanding the mechanism of committing genocide in Kyiv and in the villages of Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia regions (according to the modern administrative division).

Part of the publication was carried out with the assistance of His Beatitude Epiphanius Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine and with the funds of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the parish of St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Washington (USA).

The following will participate in the event:

His Beatitude Epiphanius, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine;
Lesia Hasydzhak, Acting Director General of the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide;
Roman Moldavskyi, editor of the publication, candidate of historical sciences, senior researcher at the National Museum of the Holodomor-genocide;
Oleksandr Lavrovych Nechyporenko, son of the author of memoirs;
Yaroslav Faizulin, director of the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine;
Andrii Kovalev, historian, political scholar, researcher of memories, spokesman of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

We invite all interested!
