The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Senate called on the government to recognise the Holodomor as genocide
The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Senate approved a resolution calling for the Holodomor of 1932-1933 to be recognised as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. On June 4, 29 committee members voted for the adoption of the resolution, two abstained, and there were no “against” votes.
In its resolution, the committee called on the Spanish government to strongly condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, show solidarity with our country and provide comprehensive support.
In addition, the resolution calls for recognising and condemning the forced displacement and deportation of Ukrainian children, working with other international partners to return them to Ukraine.
The senators also called on the government to recognise and condemn the genocide of the Ukrainian people by the Soviet Union over the past decades, namely the Holodomor.
