“Bread that is eaten after death” to be presented at the Holodomor Museum
On July 12, 2024, to the Day of Ukrainian Statehood, Creative Agency “ARTIL” invites you to a unique artistic event called “Bread that is eaten after death”. This event is organised to honour the memory of the victims of genocides against the Ukrainian people – the Holodomor and the Russian-Ukrainian war, which have a common origin – the desire of the enemies to destroy the Ukrainian identity.
In the program of the event:
– Presentation of the book “By God’s Spirit. Memorial bread. Bread that is eaten after death” – the book includes expedition and ethnographic material, poems by the author Iryna Rachkovska, written during the period of Russian aggression against Ukraine (2022-2023), as well as photographs commemorative bread by photo artist Olha Herasymchuk. The book was published by the publishing house “Creative Agency “ARTIL” with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine as a result of the open art competition “Book for Strengthening National Unity”.
– The opening of the exhibition “Bread that is eaten after death” — an exposition of eight types of memorial bread as a symbol of life, a ritual sacrifice and a spiritual tradition of honouring the dead.
– Literary and artistic performance-requiem with the participation of mothers and wives of the fallen defenders of Ukraine, as well as performers of traditional singing and music Andrii Liashuk, Yurii and Alla Kovalchuk, Lyudmyla Vostrikova. The authorship and direction of the performance belong to Iryna Rachkovska.
– Transfer to the National Museum of the Holodomor-genocide of the personal library of Volodymyr Vasylenko (January 16, 1937 — October 9, 2023) – an outstanding Ukrainian international lawyer, honoured lawyer of Ukraine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, representative of Ukraine in the UN Human Rights Council, judge of the International Criminal Court tribunal from the former Yugoslavia, doctor of legal sciences, professor. Over 500 editions of Ukrainian and world publishing houses, as well as unique documents on international law, issues of the Holodomor and genocide, linguicide and ethnocide of the Ukrainian people. For the support of the People’s Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Lesia Vasylenko and the Ukrainian Association of Publishers and Book Distributors.
