Adoption of Ukrainian children in Russia is part of genocide: Yale University study
The Russian Federation has engaged in systematic, intentional, widespread, and coerced adoption and “re-education” of abducted Ukrainian children.
This is evidenced by the results of a report by the Humanitarian Research Laboratory at Yale University, Voice of America reports.
According to the study, the operation itself to turn Ukrainian children into Russians was initiated by Putin and his subordinates with the aim of “Russifying” children from Ukraine.
“There is no doubt. We have a document—a report from the interdepartmental commission of the Security Council of Russia—that indicates the routes of transportation of children undergoing naturalization under the program and the entire system,” explained Nathaniel Raymond, executive director of the Laboratory for Humanitarian Studies, in an exclusive commentary for Voice of America.
In total, researchers identified 314 Ukrainian children who were part of a targeted program of forced adoption and “re-education.” However, according to the researcher, the actual scale of this crime is much greater.
Raymond says the deportation, reeducation, adoption, and upbringing of children from Ukraine documented in the report are evidence of war crimes and crimes against humanity by Russians. In addition, when combined with other evidence, they may confirm the fact of genocide by Russians against Ukrainians.
