His Beatitude Sviatoslav celebrates his 55th birthday

5 May 2025

The Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, celebrates his 55th birthday today!

In times of great trials, God gives the people leaders who bring light, truth, and love. His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) is such a spiritual mentor for millions of Ukrainians.

His voice remains steadfast in discussing the dignity of man, the power of faith, the significance of unity, and the indomitability of spirit, alongside the triumph of truth and justice. During wartime, his word becomes a source of hope and consolation. His prayer is sincere, deep, and strong. His word is not just a sermon, but a call to live a Christian life, to bear witness to faith in everyday life, to be a light, even in darkness.

One of the crucial areas of his ministry is disseminating the truth about the Holodomor, the genocide of the Ukrainian people. His Beatitude Sviatoslav has repeatedly emphasised that the memory of the Holodomor is not only a tribute to the victims but also a spiritual duty to future generations. “We have no right to keep silence,” he says, reminding us that truth is a weapon against evil, and memory is the key to a dignified future. As a reminder, it was his call that inspired thousands of believers and communities to contribute charitable donations to the future Holodomor Museum complex exhibition.

The Holodomor Museum team joins in congratulating you on the anniversary! We wish you, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, health, spiritual joy, peace, and inexhaustible encouragement in your patriarchal ministry! May the grace of the Lord always be with you for many and blessed years!
