Exhibition “Holodomor: Destruction of Identity” opened in Dnipro
On May 16, the University of Customs and Finance (Dnipro), in partnership with the Holodomor Museum, held two events: the opening of the exhibition “Holodomor: Destruction of Identity” and the presentation of the popular science publication “Glossary of the Holodomor.”
The rector of the University of Customs and Finance, Professor Dmytro Bocharov, attended the events. Our museum was represented by Professor Nataliia Romanets, a senior researcher and doctor of historical sciences.
After opening the exhibition, which narrates the attempt to destroy Ukrainians as a nation, lecturers and students participated in the presentation of the book “Glossary of the Holodomor”. The publication was presented by its editor and co-author, Nataliia Romanets. As a reminder, the “Glossary of the Holodomor” contains 116 terms, both the “newspeak” of the totalitarian regime and traditional concepts that characterise the tragedy of the genocide of the Ukrainian people. Unlike a dictionary or encyclopedia, which provides all the meanings of one word, a glossary comprehensively reveals only one meaning of a certain concept, namely the one used in a certain period.
We sincerely thank the University of Customs and Finance and in particular the Department of History and Theory of State and Law for the partnership, and the students for their active participation, curiosity and interest in Ukrainian history! It is thanks to your energy, fresh perspective, and scientific interest that the museum environment comes to life with new meanings. Joint work is the key to a lively dialogue between generations and a reliable basis for future historical discoveries.
