The Ukrainian World Congress calls on Ukrainians around the world to join in commemorating the Holodomor victims
The International Coordinating Committee on the Holodomor of the Ukrainian World Congress has announced the commencement of preparations for commemorative events marking the Day of Remembrance for Holodomor Victims in Ukraine. This year, the Day of Mourning is on 22 November.
The Committee calls on Ukrainian communities to use the slogan “We remember the Holodomor. The genocide continues” and a special information website.
The resource offers posters and banners for download, answers to frequently asked questions about the Holodomor, and a sample letter calling for the recognition of the mass famine as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
“November is the month when we remember the millions of innocent victims of the Holodomor and honour their memory in communities around the world,” Olia Soroka, committee chair, emphasised.
Russia continues its efforts to destroy the Ukrainian nation, using tactics similar to those applied during the Holodomor, as without Ukraine, Russia has no history to be proud of, Soroka adds.
“As descendants of countless heroes who resisted oppression, we have a solemn duty to remember their sacrifices and bear witness to the truth, so that no other nation will ever suffer the atrocities of genocide. Our unity is our strength, and the world has seen that,” she says.
The UWC hopes that the memory of the Holodomor will continue to inspire Ukrainian communities to honour, unite and actively support Ukraine around the world.
