‘The Holodomor Legacy’ invites submissions of academic papers

2 February 2026

To the attention of practitioners and researchers: ‘The Holodomor Legacy’ initiative invites you to submit your academic papers.

The Support to the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide in Ukraine project, funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and implemented through Cowater International and the Canada-Ukraine Foundation, is announcing an open call for highly professional academic papers on the Holodomor genocide.

Successful applicants will receive funding for their research in proportion to the project’s requirements and complexity. The minimum amount of funding will be 5,000 Canadian dollars. The languages of application are English, French, and Ukrainian.

The applicants will present their work at the Holodomor Legacy Symposium, which will take place in Canada’s National Capital Region during the first week of May. We will announce the exact date shortly.

The research, funded by the Holodomor Legacy Initiative (HLI), will make a crucial and significant contribution to the overall effort to research the history of the Holodomor, increase global knowledge about the crime of genocide against Ukrainians, and promote recognition and awareness of the Holodomor at the global level.

Abstract deadline: 23 February 2026.
