A delegation of Polish colleagues visited the museum
On 26 March, the museum had a visit from a delegation of Polish colleagues from the OBMIN Foundation (Warsaw), the International Cultural Centre (Kraków), the Museum of Art in Łódź, the Silesian Museum, the POLIN Museum (Warsaw), the Museum of the Second World War (Gdańsk), the National Museum in Kraków, the Cultural Centre (Lublin), the Museum of Polish History (Warsaw), the Arsenal Gallery (Białystok), the National Institute of Polish Cultural Heritage Abroad ‘POLONIKA’ (Warsaw) and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kyiv.
This visit was made possible by a joint project between the OBMIN Foundation and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine.
The primary purpose of the meeting was to familiarise the guests with the Museum’s activities and to discuss the challenges of managing cultural institutions in times of crisis, particularly during a full-scale war.
Lesia Hasydzhak, the museum’s Director General, Deputy Director General Hanna Sokyrina, Deputy Director General Olha Melnyk, and Chief Custodian Maryna Pryn discussed the challenges facing the museum today, ensuring its continued operation, preserving the collections, keeping the topic of the 1932–1933 Holodomor relevant in the modern context, and future areas of work with the guests.
Also, our Polish colleagues listened with interest to a brief tour of the museum grounds.
We hope that this visit will mark the start of further cooperation, the exchange of best practices and joint projects.
