Pope Francis commemorated the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 and called for the prayer for peace in Ukraine.
He said this during his Sunday speech to the believers at St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, Voice of America informs.
It is noted that the pontiff commemorated the victims of the Holodomor – “the terrible famine committed by the Soviet regime, the victims of which were millions of people.”
“The situation was painful. Let the wounds of the past become the call for everybody not to let this tragedy to be repeated. Let’s pray for this dear country and for the peace they seek so much,” said the head of the Roman Catholic Church.
