Game “Slovo House”

22 July 2025

The Word House game is back!

On Friday, 25 July, at 15:00, we invite you to plunge into the atmosphere of the 1930s, when the poetic word lived side by side with censorship, and artists were in the shadow of denunciations and arrests.

The legendary Kharkiv house ‘Slovo’ was built in the late 1920s for our writers. The most famous Ukrainian artists lived in the house: Mykola Khvyliovyi, Mike Johansen, Pavlo Tychyna, Nataliia Uzhvii, Volodymyr Sosiura, Ostap Vyshnia, Oles Kurbas, Ivan Bahrianyi and others.

During the game, you will be able to “visit” their flats, see photos, autographs, and learn little-known personal and creative stories. You will also be able to feel the oppressive atmosphere of fear and creative slavery that are always companions of a repressive system.

Join us! Registration is necessary.

The game was developed by the Kharkiv Literary Museum. The authors are Maryna Kutsenko and Olha Cheremska.

For youth and adults.

Participation is free, you will only pay for the entrance ticket to the Museum. (Ticket price — 15-30 UAH)

Location: Holodomor Museum, 3 Lavrska St.
