“Museification of war. Tasks and challenges in acquisition museum collections” discussion
On May 15 at 12:00, in the Hall of Memory of the National Museum of the Holodomor genocide, a discussion will be held for representatives of Ukrainian museums, “Museification of war. Tasks and challenges in acquisition museum collections”.
The event aims to share experiences in the specialised community of museum workers. To identify “white spots” in the issue of acquisition museum collections with objects representing the Russian-Ukrainian war for further improvement of internal acquisition mechanisms.
List of thematic blocks of the discussion:
1. Work in the field. Ways of replenishing museum collections with artefacts of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Automation of receipts (the case of the War Museum and New Post Office). Organisation of expeditions, and cooperation with state authorities. Also, establishing contacts with donors.
2. Artefact prioritization and completion purpose. What can be included in the museum collection? Selective and mass collection of artefacts. Acquisition for the project or a project from the completed ones?
3. What are the difficulties and what could be improved at the administrative level for a more efficient acquisition of museum collections?

Yana Hrynko, head of the exposition and exhibition department of the National Museum of Holodomor-genocide (acquisition for the project);
Yurii Savchuk, War Museum (the largest scale of collection, project with the New Post Office);
Tetiana Pylypchuk, Kharkiv Literary Museum (thematic selection) (online);
Volodymyr Simperovych, the Military History Research Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (author of methodological recommendations on acquisition of the Russian-Ukrainian war);
Olha Salo, deputy general director for development and cultural and educational work of the National Memorial Complex of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred — the Museum of the Revolution of Dignity (permanent acquisition experience);
Maryana Tomyn, director of the Department of Cultural Heritage of the MCIP (possibility of cooperation with management bodies to improve the mechanisms of museum collection acquisition).
