Interaction with those released from captivity: Infobox

20 March 2026

As part of the implementation of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Programme ‘How Are You?’, an initiative launched by First Lady Olena Zelenska, the Coordination Centre for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has developed an InfoBox to support those released from captivity. This resource provides answers to the following questions:

How to support someone who has been released from captivity?

How to help a person on their path to recovery?

Why can’t the experience of captivity be generalised?

How to avoid stigmatisation and re-traumatisation?

The resource will help former captives, their families, and everyone who interacts with them build safe, respectful relationships.

The Infobox was created as part of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Programme ‘How Are You?’, an initiative by First Lady Olena Zelenska, in collaboration with DIGNITY, the Danish Institute Against Torture, and funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Expert and analytical support is provided by the Coordination Centre for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Department of Reintegration Measures of the Central Directorate for Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs. Media partner: Starlight Media. Technical support: NGO ‘Barrier-Free’.
