Museum researcher Roman Tesliuk participated in the conference

28 April 2025

On April 24, 2025, a scientific and practical conference, “Current Issues of History and Culture of Ukraine,” was held in the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi. The Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi State Historical and Cultural Reserve hosted the event online. Scholars and museum workers from over 20 Ukrainian higher education institutions, museums and archives shared their scientific achievements and work experience.

Roman Tesliuk, a researcher at the Holodomor Museum, attended the conference. He delivered a report entitled “Cannibalism as a Result of the Holodomor-Genocide in the Korsun District of the Kyiv Region.” The researcher emphasised that the phenomena of cannibalism and corpse-eating during the Holodomor years are direct evidence of the criminal intent of the Kremlin’s totalitarian regime to destroy the Ukrainian nation. Using the example of analysing criminal case materials on cannibalism in the Korsun District, the speaker outlined the typical characteristics of this asocial phenomenon, its prevalence, and the importance of analysing oral history sources for scientific research.

A collection of scientific papers will be published based on the conference results.

As a reminder, on May 7, 2025, the Holodomor Museum will host a scientific seminar, “Cannibalism during the Holodomor: Spatiotemporal and Socio-Demographic Discourse (based on criminal case materials from the archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine).”
