Tender announced for framing artworks from the Holodomor Museum’s collection
One of the most compelling parts of the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide collection is the group of 539 items titled ‘Memorials of Fine Arts.’ The most widely represented are paintings and graphic works, which, from the perspective of visual art, immerse the viewer in a whirlpool of memories and reflections on the Holodomor of 1932–1933. They include works by famous artists such as Viktor Tsymbal, Vira Barynova-Kuleba, Volodymyr Kutkin, Mykola Bondarenko, Ivan Novobranets, Sabatino Scia, and others.
All works are currently stored in the repository. To showcase them to the public in the most comprehensive and high-quality manner during various exhibition projects, both in Ukraine and abroad, it is essential to have them framed and protected with museum-quality glass. Thanks to its anti-glare effect, the glass does not reflect the images of surrounding objects, allowing for a full appreciation of the work without any distractions. At the same time, it provides the paintings with maximum and reliable protection from ultraviolet radiation, the accumulation of dirt on the surface of the work, and protects them from minor mechanical damage.
To this end, the project ‘Support for the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide in Ukraine,’ implemented by Cowater International Inc. in partnership with the Canada-Ukraine Foundation (CUF) and funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), has announced a tender for the professional design of paintings and graphic works from the museum’s collection.
The work will be performed on the customer’s premises without moving the works. Materials must comply with international conservation standards (ISO 9706, PAS 198, ICOM recommendations). The aesthetic design should be restrained.
