The Bethlehem Peace Light is back at the Holodomor Museum!

18 December 2025

Today, 18 December, the Plast Girls brought us the Bethlehem Light! This sacred flame, lit on Christmas Eve at the birthplace of Jesus Christ and then spread throughout the Christian world by scout organisations, is a symbol of peace, hope and brotherhood. For Ukraine, whose enemy persistently tries to plunge it into darkness, this event holds special meaning. It is a reminder that light always triumphs over darkness. Passing the Fire from hand to hand, we share the warmth of our hearts and our hope that everything will be alright.

We thank the Ukrainian scout organisation Plast for these rays of light that they bring to our museum every year!

A large vigil lamp with the Bethlehem Light will burn for 24 hours next to the sculpture ‘Bitter Memory of Childhood.’ Anyone who wishes to do so can come and ‘take’ a piece of the Christmas fire with them!
