A Service for Searching for Information about the Repressed Has Appeared in Ukraine
On the eve of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions, the Sectoral State Archives of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance opened a Consultation Center for search for information about the repressed.
This was reported on the website of the Sectoral State Archives.
“The Center will provide advice to all who wish to know the fate of the repressed in 1917–1991. We will help write the right appeals and inquiries to the archives to get all the necessary information about people, historical figures and events,” the archive informed.
According to Ihor Kulyk, director of the UINP Branch State Archives, the Holodomor of 1932–1933, the artificial famines of 1921–1923 and 1946–1947, the Great Terror, deportations, political arrests and murders — millions of citizens became victims of these misanthropic experiments. However, not all names have been established yet.
“Many families do not know the history of their family because the pages of their ancestors’ lives were torn. The purpose of the created Center is to support people who want to start searching for the truth about their relatives and their country,” Ihor Kulyk said.
The Consultation Center can be contacted on weekdays from 10.00 to 18.00 by phone (067)298-18-18 or (044)298-12-12, sending an e-mail to [email protected]; writing a message on Facebook, or contacting the website.
Contacting the Counseling Center is free of charge.
As a reminder, the National Book of Remembrance of the Holodomor Victims can be found on our website.
