Bulgaria recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainians
Bulgaria recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainians. The Parliament (National Assembly) of Bulgaria approved a resolution recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. The Bulgarian Telegraph Agency reported it.
134 deputies voted for the adoption of the document. 26 parliamentarians from the pro-Russian party “Vozrozhdienie” (Renaissance) spoke against it. At the same time, many deputies of the Bulgarian Socialist Party did not participate in the vote.
The resolution notes that any denial, justification or belittling of the genocide is an insult to the memory of the millions of people who died due to the Holodomor; moreover, the fourth Saturday of November is declared the Remembrance Day of the Holodomor victims.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the Bulgarian Parliament for recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
