The National Council advises the media to talk about Remembrance Day of the victims of the famines in the context of today’s events

13 November 2024

The National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting calls on the media to cover Holodomor Remembrance Day on November 23, taking into account current events, and to commemorate all Ukrainians who died of famine with a minute of silence at 12:00. This recommendation is published on the media regulator’s website.

“The Soviet authorities made every effort to erase these events from the people’s memory, concealing the truth about the famine years and denying their existence. However, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the hidden facts gradually became public property, revealing the bitter truth about this genocide.

Today, during the full-scale aggression against Ukraine, the Russian regime is again using the tactics of pressure on the food sector. By blocking the export of Ukrainian grain, Russia endangers the food security of many countries, which may lead to new waves of famine in the world,” the message states.
