The UWC calls on the global Ukrainian community to join in commemorating the victims of the Holodomor

4 November 2024

The Ukrainian World Congress is organizing a global advocacy campaign, “Remembering the Holodomor – the Genocide of Ukrainians Continues,” for the anniversary of the Holodomor genocide of 1932-1933, which will be commemorated this year on November 23. The UWC reports this on its website.

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) is launching a global advocacy campaign titled “Remembering the Holodomor – the genocide of Ukrainians continues,” to commemorate the Holodomor genocide of 1932-1933, observed this year on Nov. 23.

Nov. 19 also marks 1,000 days since the onset of Russia’s full-scale genocidal war against Ukraine. These significant historical events are intertwined, reflecting the brutality and ruthlessness of the aggressor who is determined to eradicate the Ukrainian people.

We must remind the world of the horrific crimes committed by the communist regime of Joseph Stalin against the Ukrainian people in the 20th century, just as its post-Soviet successor, the Russian regime under Vladimir Putin, is again perpetrating genocide on Ukrainian soil.

Through this campaign, we call upon the global Ukrainian community and friends of Ukraine to join forces, organize and participate in events honoring the memory of the victims of the Holodomor genocide. We must also condemn the aggressor for its unprovoked and sinful genocidal war.

What you can do:

  • Organize rallies:
    • Hold events, marches, and flash mobs in your cities to remind the world of this tragedy.
    • Organize interfaith prayers and honor the memory of the deceased with a moment of silence.
