Visit of the President of the Australian Senate
The President of the Australian Senate Steven Perry together with his wife Alison came to Ukraine with an official visit for the first time. The guests got acquainted with the Holodomor Victims Memorial and the history of the genocide of the Ukrainian nation in 1932-1933.
Alison Perry thanked the workers of the museum for telling the history of the Holodomor and stressed that we all have to share this painful truth, “Thank you so much for opening my eyes and my ears to this horrible famine and indeed its terrible cause. We all have a duty to share the truth”.
In 1993, the Australian Senate in its resolution called the Holodomor the most terrible manifestation of the genocide in history, which claimed lives of 7 million Ukrainians. And in 2008, the Australian House of Representatives reiterated its recognition of the Holodomor as the genocide of the Ukrainian nation.
