The newly appointed German Ambassador visited the Holodomor Museum
On Wednesday, 2 August, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine, Mr Martin Jäger, accompanied by the Permanent Representative of the Ambassador, Mr Tim Prange, visited the Holodomor Museum.
Mr Ambassador honoured the memory of the fallen Ukrainians at the Altar of Memory and viewed the Museum’s exposition. The head of the Museum, Lesia Hasydzhak, gave the guest a tour of the Hall of Memory. She thanked Germany for the crucial step that the country took last November, recognising the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people, as well as for the assistance provided by Germany to cultural institutions of Ukraine and museums in particular. Martin Jäger also shared Germany’s experience in commemorating traumatic pages of history.
Ambassador Martin Jäger started working in Ukraine on 20 July 2023. It is significant that while getting to know Kyiv and Ukraine, Mr Ambassador included a visit to our institution in his work schedule.
