Ilya Kyva is a former Ukrainian MP known for his pro-Russian position, a collaborator with the Russian Federation, a separatist, and a Ukrainophobe.
In January 2022, Kiva left for Spain. From there, shortly before Russia’s invasion, he stated that he was not going to return to Ukraine and “give his life for Zelensky.” In addition, he accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of allegedly “suppressing freedom of speech and supporting nationalists and fascists.” He also spoke of alleged external influence on Ukraine and that it was “being used to harass, provoke, and destroy Russians.”
After the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion, Kyiv defended Russia in every possible way and shifted all the blame to Ukraine. He claimed that it was Ukraine’s alleged desire to join NATO that led to such consequences. Kiva accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of allegedly being “unindependent” and “being under the guidance of Western curators.”
Kiva claimed the necessity to carry out “denazification” in Ukraine, echoing Kremlin narratives. He also noted that “Nazism in Ukraine was allegedly financed and patronized by the West.”
