The Constitution and Justice Committee of the Brazil’s Parliament supported the recognition of the Holodomor as genocide
The Constitution and Justice Committee of the Lower House of the Brazilian Parliament unanimously passed Bill 423/2022, which recognises the Holodomor of 1932–1933 as genocide and establishes the fourth Saturday of November as the Day of Remembrance for the Holodomor victims. Vittorio Sorotiuk, Vice-President of the World Congress of Ukrainians in South America, announced it.
As a reminder, the Federal Senate (upper house) of the Brazilian National Congress recognised the Holodomor in Ukraine as genocide in April 2022. Now, thanks to the decision of the Committee on Constitution and Justice, the lower House of Deputies is one step closer to such recognition.
We appreciate this decision and thank everyone involved for their support and promotion of the project!
