The Government held a meeting on the preparation of the International Forum devoted to the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor

Today, Vice Prime Minister Vyacheslav Kyrylenko held a meeting of the interdepartmental working group on the preparation and holding of the International Forum devoted to the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the World Congress of Ukrainians, the Public Committee on commemoration of the victims of the Holodomor-genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine, representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Information Policy, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Kyiv city state administration.

Vyacheslav Kyrylenko stressed the need to coordinate the efforts of all executive bodies during the preparation for the International Forum devoted to the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor, a genocide of the Ukrainian people. The forum will be held in late November 2018 in Kyiv.

“The main purpose of the forum is to spread the truth about the Holodomor and to continue the process of recognition by the world community of the Holodomor of 1932-33 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people,” Vyacheslav Kyrylenko said.

In this context, the participants of the interdepartmental working group on the preparation and holding of the International Forum dedicated to the Holodomor’s anniversary, discussed organizational issues and made proposals to the program of events. According to the results of the meeting of the working group, the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory was charged with summarizing the proposals of the working group members and submitting the revised draft of the concept and program of events for the next meeting.

It is planned to invite heads of states, governments and parliaments, government officials, leaders of international organizations, scholars who are investigating the Holodomor, representatives of educational, museum and cultural institutions to participate in the International Forum.

We remind that according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated November 26, 2016 “On Measures in Connection with the 85th Anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine – the Genocide of the Ukrainian People”, the Committee for the Preparation and Conduct of Events to the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine was organized.

For the first time, the International Forum on the Holodomor topic was held in Kyiv in November 2008 on the 75th anniversary of the genocide.
