86th Anniversary of the Holodomor Genocide

1932–1933. Ukraine.Soviet Union commits the largest crime of genocide of Ukrainians. More than 7 million victims. Abandoned villages and collective psychological trauma of those who survived.

Nowadays Ukraine is an independent state, and we, its nation, choose the way our country will go to the future. However, only by knowing the history, investigating and analyzing it can we resist hatred, protect human rights and avert any manifestations of intolerance.

National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide is a center of the Holodomor victims commemoration and the only museum of the genocide of Ukrainians. It prepared educationsl, expositional, and scholal progect devoted to the 86th anniversary of the crime.

November 4–6, Tirana, Albania — participation of the Holodomor Museum in annual meeting of the Plaform of Europan Memory and Conscience.

November 5, 13:00, Dmytro Yavornytskyi Dnipropetrovsk National Historical Museum — presentation of photo exhibition “Voices from across the Ocean”.

November 5 and 12, 13:00, the Holodomor Museum — educational lessons “Looking into the History through Photos” for students of 5–8 grades.

November 5, 13:00, Khmelnytskyi National University — lecture on the Holodomor and presentation within the project “Books for 100 Libraries and Universities anf Ukraine”.

November 6, 13:00, Chemerivtsi District Department of Education (Khmelnytskyi region) — workshop for shool teachers of history and geography, presentation of the books within the project “Books for 100 Libraries and Universities anf Ukraine”.

November 7, 13:00, Institute of Postgraduate Education (city of Khmelnytskyi) — workshop for secondary school teachers of history of Khmelnytskyi region.

November 7, 15:00, the Holodomor Museum — presentation of the exhibition of the participants of Children’s Art Contest “MEMORY OF THE FUTURE”, devoted to the 86th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932–33 in Ukraine and rewarding its winners (in partnership with Charitable Fund for Holodomor Victims Memorial Development). The works of talented children can be seen in the Hall of Memory from November 7 to November 23.

November 14, 14:00, Holodomor Museum — presentation of the book Tintin. 20th Century Reposter in the Country of Soviets. Official opening. Lecture by Fedir Balandin “Tintin in Ukrainian. Cult Literary Hero as the Eyewitness of the Epoch”.

  • Pass the memories of the Holodomor survivors, information about the mass graves of the Holodomor victims and children’s shelters in 1932–1933, and the Holodomor victims’ names to the museum.
  • Every institution can temporarily exhibit one of the Holodomor Museum exhibitions.
  • Join the Holodomor Victims Remembrance Day on November 23, 2019, as the volunteer on the territory of the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide.
