New interactive class ‘City of Hope: Kyiv 1933’

12 May 2026

To mark International Museum Day, we invite adults and teenagers—anyone who loves and is interested in history—to visit the Holodomor Museum.

We invite you to participate in the presentation of a new educational class that will help you learn more about life in the city during the Holodomor, using Kyiv as a case study. Were Kyiv residents provided with food, and were all residents in the same conditions? Why did Ukrainians from the villages head to the city, and what were they hoping for? What was Kyiv like in 1933 – a place of salvation or a loss of hope? Together, we will wander the streets of Kyiv, observe the daily lives of Kyiv residents and those in the suburbs, and try to understand what opportunities city dwellers had to survive the Holodomor.

DATE: Monday 18 May
TIME: 16:00 (duration: approx. 1 hour)
VENUE: Holodomor Museum, 15A Ivan Mazepa Street (10 minutes from Arsenalna metro station)

Participation is free. Places are limited (up to 12 people).

Please register to participate.

To mark International Museum Day (Monday 18 May), the museum WILL BE OPEN! Admission is FREE!
