Presentation of the Book “Famine of 1946–1947 in Ukraine: Collective Memory”

On November 20, 2019, at the main building of the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University (60 Volodymyrska St., Kyiv), International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Problem of Existential Choice during the Holodomor-Genocide” will be held.

During the conference, the presentation of the book Famine of 1946–1947 in Ukraine: Collective Memory will be presented with the participation of the initiator of the edition Andrii Bondarchuk, the compiler Vasyl Marochko, and the publisher Marko Melnyk.

In addition, a campaing will be held to promote the publications on mass artificial famine in Ukraine, including the above-mentioned books, as well as the books by Andrii Bondarchuk Ukraine. The Famine of 1946–1947: An Unpunished Crime, The Forgotten Good and Bow to the Angel. Anyone will be able to purchase any book at a price that they set for themselves.

All the money raised during the campaign will go to a joint project with Express magazine to erect a monument to Taras Shevchenko in Donetsk region in the village of Oleksandro-Kalynove. For many years, the community of the village has been dreaming about such monument. It will be a symbol of the unbrokenness of the Ukrainians in the Donbas front zone. There are also a number of educational and presentation events planned devoted to the Holodomor-genocide of 1932–33 and the mass artificial famines of 1921–23 and 1946–47.

During November, a special offer will be available from publisher at markobook.com for books on the 1932–33 Holodomor-genocide and the 1921–23 and 1946–47 artificial famines. The publications will be distributed at cost price.
