About the Holodomor in Paris
From 1 to 8 October 2019, the International Exhibition “Objectif FEMMES” will be held in the City Hall of the 9th arrondissement of Paris. This is an annual event to display the work of talented female photographers.
Among the five photographers whose work will be exhibited is Canadian-born Ukrainian artist Lesia Maruschak. She will show a series of artworks of the project “Maria”. Project “Maria” commemorates the memory of the victims of the 1932–1933 Holodomor. The central element of the exhibition is the image of a young girl who survived the genocide. This exhibition is like a fictional album of Maria’s life, offering the visitor an illusory sense of order, pointing to future horror. The installation consists of sculpture, film, book, and other objects.
Lesia Maruschak is one of 70 contemporary artists invited to present their work at 7 organizations in Paris.
The Holodomor Museum invites you to visit the exhibition of everyone who is now in Paris and sincerely congratulates Lesia Maruschak on the opening!
