Hundreds of residents of the city came out on the street with candles and symbolic spikes of wheat in their hands on Holodomor’s Day of Remembrance on November 24, 2018.
The mournful procession passed through the city center from the Theater Square to Zamkova Square. There was a commemorative prayer sent by the Metropolitan of Lutsk and Volyn UOC Mikhail: “Everyone should wonder if he just recalls the Holodomor, or did this day teach me something. Without studying history, it will be repeated by the generation of our grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Let the great love of God to his Motherland bless us for a happy future,” the metropolit said in his speech.
Thus, Volyn Oblast joined the nationwide events to commemorate the Holodomor victims of 1932-33.
