The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) asks to sign a petition to the Government of New Zealand to recognize the Holodomor of 1932-33 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people, Ukrinform reports, referring to the UWC’s Facebook page.

“In New Zealand, a petition was submitted to the House of Representatives (Parliament – ed.) asking the government to recognize the Ukrainian famine of 1932-33 (the Holodomor) as a genocide and condemn any attempts to deny or distort this historical truth as anything less than genocide. Support the recognition of the Holodomor in New Zealand by signing a petition by this link,” the statement said.

Everyone can sign a petition. “You do not have to live in New Zealand to support this call,” the message says.

Recall, the Ukrainians of New Zealand joined the International Campaign “Let’s Light a Candle of memory!”
