Art project "163"

In 2006, the Parliament of Ukraine recognized the Holodomor as genocide. But  through 70 years of denial the truth about the great crime against the Ukrainian people this is complicated understanding. It took years of work on the distribution the information about the famine that in 2015 82% of Ukraine considered the Holodomor as genocide that claimed millions of lives – more than 7 million. But the human brain is unable to imagine this apocalyptic number of deaths.

On September 23, 2016 at the National Museum “Holodomor victims’ Memorial” was presented art project “163 “. Author of the idea, architect, artist Rostislav Bortnik using grain (Ukraine’s largest wealth) and creative techniques (Modern Art) materializes these figures and offers visually to see the extent of losses due to Ukraine Famine.

Being in the Hall of Memory in museum man is in the  room with 192,639,385 million grains, where an every grain symbolizes life.
