Alexey Zhuravlev is a deputy of Russia’s State Duma and the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense. He voted for Russia to recognise the “independence” of the pseudo-republics of “L/DPR.”
He is a frequent guest on Russian propaganda TV channels. He has repeatedly made absurd statements. For example, during the “60 Minutes” program, he stated that there was a brothel for zoophiles in Denmark where you can rape turtles.
In 2020, he called for fighting Ukraine “with an automatic rifle” and campaigned for a religious “war” against the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, he called for the physical destruction of 2 million Ukrainians, threatening to kill the military correspondent of the German Bild in Ukraine, Bjorn Stritzel.
In March 2022, he stated that the Russian Federation “must destroy the decision-making centres in Ukraine.” In April of this year, he threatened the United Kingdom with destruction using the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile.
